These terms cover the Code News Android app (Code News - Articles for Programmers & Developers) and the website codenews.app (together, the "Service"). The Service is run by CODE BLDR S.R.L., Sibiu, Romania, tax number (CUI) 44030127 ("we", "us"). Contact: codenews@codebldr.com.

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

The Service

Code News collects posts from engineering blogs, framework news and developer publications and shows them in a feed filtered by the tags you follow. We show the title, a short excerpt and a link. Every article belongs to its publisher and opens on the original site. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content.

We may add, change or remove features and sources at any time.

Accounts

You can read Code News without an account. If you sign in (with email, Google, GitHub or X), keep access to that sign-in method secure and give us accurate details. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Code News is not directed at children under 13.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account, or by following the steps on codenews.app/page/delete-account.

Premium

• Premium is an optional subscription sold through Google Play. The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown in Google Play before you buy.
• Google Play charges you and renews the subscription automatically at the end of each period, until you cancel.
• You can cancel anytime in Google Play, under Subscriptions. Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for. If you cancel during a free trial, you are not charged.
• Refunds follow the Google Play refund policy. If something went wrong with a purchase, write to us and we will help.
• If we change the price, Google Play tells you before the new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.
• Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it in Google Play.

Bolts, Key points and the Supporters page

• Bolts are votes for posts worth reading. They have no money value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and refill daily.
• Key points are summaries generated automatically from the article. They can be incomplete or wrong. Read the original article before you rely on it.
• Premium subscribers can appear on the Supporters page under a username, GitHub or X handle. Write to us if you want yours removed.

Your content

If you submit an article, feedback or a report, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you let us show it in the Service. Do not submit spam, illegal content or content that infringes the rights of others. We may remove any submission and suspend accounts that break these terms.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: no scraping or bulk downloading of the feed, no attempts to break or overload our servers, no reverse engineering of our API, and no use of bolts or accounts to manipulate rankings.

Jobs and announcements

Companies can post a job or an announcement in the feed. We agree the details, the text and the dates by email, and these posts are marked in the feed.

Disclaimer and liability

We provide the Service "as is". We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for the content of third-party articles. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

Ending use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close a paying account for a reason that is not your breach of these terms, we refund the unused part of your subscription.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.

Changes

We may update these terms. We post the new version on this page and update the date above. For important changes we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before they apply.
